Arte dal Vulcano
Curated by Angela Tecce and Claudia Borrelli
8 december 2025 - 11 january 2026, Palace of Italian Institutions, Tangier (Morocco)
The exhibition “Arte dal Vulcano”, organized to mark the celebrations for the 2,500th anniversary of the founding of Naples, is promoted by the Italian Embassy in Rabat and the Italian Cultural Institute of Rabat, in collaboration with the National Committee Neapolis 2500 and with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. The exhibition will be hosted in Tangier, in the spaces of the Palace of Italian Institutions and will present a selection of 29 works including paintings, sculptures, photographs, and installations created by Neapolitan and Campanian artists from the post-war period to the present. The works come from the collections of MADRE – Museum of Contemporary Art Donnaregina – and the Museum of the Twentieth Century of Naples.
Curated by Angela Tecce and Claudia Borrelli, the exhibition aims to narrate the visual and cultural identity of Naples through the symbolic force of the volcano, which becomes a metaphor for energy, memory, and transformation. Among the artists featured is Domenico Antonio Mancini, alongside several prominent figures of the contemporary Campanian art scene.
The exhibition itinerary includes 29 works—paintings, sculptures, photographs, and installations—from the Neapolitan public collections of Madre – Donnaregina Contemporary Art Museum and the Museum of the Twentieth Century at Castel Sant’Elmo. The pieces are signed by some of the most representative contemporary artists: Marisa Albanese, Carlo Alfano, Antonio Biasiucci, Paolo Bini, Tomaso Binga, Diego Cibelli, Alessandra Cianelli, Francesco Clemente, Giulio Delvè, Maria Adele Del Vecchio, Sergio Fermariello, Eugenio Giliberti, Mimmo Jodice, Nino Longobardi, Luigi Mainolfi, Domenico Antonio Mancini, Giuseppe Maraniello, Raffaela Mariniello, Umberto Manzo, Raffaela Naldi Rossano, Mimmo Paladino, Giulia Piscitelli, Paolo Puddu, Luciano Romano, Rosy Rox, Marinella Senatore, Lorenzo Scotto di Luzio, and Ernesto Tatafiore.
