A red Piaggio Ape loaded with watermelons travels through the city streets. The “trerruote” (three-wheeler), a vehicle symbolic of fruit and vegetable street vending in Southern Italy, broadcasts readings of poems by Mahmoud Darwish via loudspeaker, in both Arabic and Italian. The voices are those of Soha Sukkar and Ahlam Abdel-Ati, who read in Gaza City; Wala Abu Jami and Azar Bsesah, who read in Khan Younis; and Aida Khalil, who reads in Italian from Orvieto.
